Family House Kunratice

Jozef Novotný

Annotation

The family house is located on a narrow and long plot. However, its great value, in the context of the city, it is close to the nature of the Kunratický Park. The proposal deals with the orientation to the world sides. Both the garden and the park are located to the north, there is also the main living space of the house. Southern light is brought into it through the atrium. The house is single-storey with large glass facades, that connects the interior with the exterior. This connection is enhanced by the smooth transition of wooden cladding between the facade and the inner wall surfaces, using hidden window frames as well. The proposal preserves the majestic walnut tree in the garden, which determines the placement of the house. Walnut wood is symbolically used on interior furniture.
