Annotation

Kintsugi is a Japanese art that involves repairing ceramic shards with gold, allowing broken or unused items to stand out. Thanks to the gold, their imperfections become highlighted and turn into a source of strength. Similarly, in the case of the quarry in Ústí nad Labem, the unused quarry has the potential to become an interesting place through the Kintsugi project. A golden path winds its way through the entire quarry, connecting five pavilions. Their forms resemble pyrite crystals in a cubic crystal system. The internal layout of the pavilions creates a structure of stones using various materials such as basalt, marble, slate, granite, and limestone.
