We specialize in execution of interior design projects, where students work on their semester architecture project. This forces them to enter the building and see it from the inside. In addition to studying furnishings, materials and their craftsmanship, they also define colors and lighting. This teaches them to use architectural means to shape the overall expression and atmosphere of the environment – to shape the psychoplacticity of a space.
Empathy to the time regime of a space, getting a feel for its operation and occupants, is of prime importance. We also draw examples from film set design, where the visual aspect is influenced by the story. We focus on buildings for culture and use of industrial heritage for these purposes In an open assignment. It is the scenographic approaches from theater, film and new media that are the inspiration for us to revive the Zen-like emptiness of contemporary architecture.
