Exhibition of Studio Projects

Annotation

The proposal replaces a dilapidated building from the 1980s. It preserves street lines, through axes and straightens the street to create a visual connection between the Prague Gate and the Masaryk House of Culture. The new building of the Mělník Library is located perpendicular to the axis of culture in the area of the square. The library fulfills two purposes - it replaces the spaces that the city library will lose when the existing buildings are demolished and it adds the necessary social hall providing a new venue for social events, which until now was provided by other cities in the vicinity. Part of the main design of the library is to complete the space around the square by creating residential blocks with active parterres. Each block has underground residential parking.
