Along The Walls

Bc. Sára Trojovská

Annotation

The city walls have always been an inseparable part of the city - they were a symbol of the city's rights, but they also provided protection for its inhabitants. Due to complicated property relations and safety requirements for the front area of the walls, an empty, undevelopable space was created, which over time - as the needs for protection of the inhabitants changed - became "vague". Kolín is not an exception to this, and everone can still observe a kind of elusiveness when walking along the street surrounding the preserved remains of the walls. Conceptually, these places can be compared to individual beads hanging on the threads of the walls. The project is then concerned with the definition and consolidation of these places in order to connect the centre with the rest of the city.
