CEMETERY IN ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE

Bc. Julie Skuhravá Hrubá

Annotation

The semester work from the DS course focuses on the analysis of documents leading to a diploma thesis on the design of a new cemetery in České Budějovice. Cemeteries have an important social and ecological significance in villages. It is a public space with a specific meaning, which is part of the urban structure in the city. The aim of the cemetery is to invite observers and survivors to both the last farewell and the subsequent visit of the deceased. The architecture of the cemetery should thus not appear oppressive and gloomy, but as a pleasant garden of remembrance, like a park for the deceased. Modern cemeteries must meet not only the current requirements of the funeral industry but also those of the future, given the nature and longevity of these places.
