Art school Orionka

The area of the former depot and Orionka Square is located on the border between Vinohrady and Vršovice, between the block and villa settlements. The local population needs more civic facilities, so I propose to use the existing halls as a community centre and to enclose the eastern part of the block with an arch-shaped mass. In the design I have focused primarily on the new art school building at the top of the site. The mass has five floors, which in Korunní Street connects it to the Vinohrady blocks, but along Benešovská Street the floors gradually shorten and the height of the building decreases similarly to the terrain of the street. A fortress wall is created in terms of mass, the house gains three terraces on the south side with a view of Vršovice.
