Being Close to a Tram, Dvorce – Prague 4

Bc. Kateřina-Matylda Topinková

Annotation

The aim of the project is to integrate the Dvorce loop in Prague 4 into the surrounding environment and create a functional public space. The goal is to disrupt the overly prominent horizontal axis of communication along the Vltava river and calm down motor vehicle traffic, as well as non-motorized traffic on the cycle path. The tram loop surrounds and closes off the square from the east side, which is now opened up with a promenade leading to the river. I propose a "pedestrian crosswalk zone" in the loop area, which would be distinguished from the surroundings by distinct pavement. The main focus is on pedestrian function. Consequently, the cycling route would be interrupted for a distance of 70 meters within the crosswalk area, and motor traffic would be slowed down.
