START-UP HOUSING

The goal of the design was to create affordable and economical housing in the middle of the historic center of Mladá Boleslav, offering six apartments with one room and two larger duplex apartments at the top. The mass respects the shape of the original building through a saddle roof with dormers, the position and material solution of the front facade, and a height gradation that smoothly connects to surrounding structures, effectively filling the given gap. Access to the building is possible through the main entrance on Pražská brána street, but it is also possible to enter from the side of Staromestské námestie, where a passage through the building to the atrium has been restored. The design aims to support community living by providing a private terraced garden and coworking space.
