ZENKLOVA Alzheimer's day care centre

Kryštof Andrle

Annotation

Alzheimer's disease, a neurodegenerative disease and the most common cause of dementia. Short-term memory decline, including loss of ability to orient and perform complex activities. A problem faced by approximately 150,000 people in the Czech Republic. There is no treatment and this number is rapidly increasing. I propose a modern day centre for them. A building that is a therapeutic tool in itself. I emphasize community, movement and cognitive stimulation. I work with contrasts of colour and transparencies to make the space more readable and directable. I offer the possibility of continuous movement with no clear end to the route. I add outreach and respite services to the center.
