MĚDĚNEC: Housing under Mědník

Emma Ripplová

Annotation

Měděnec, historically a mining town with a regular urban structure, is facing, like many other communities in the Sudetenland, a population decline caused by the cessation of mining, the displacement of Sudeten Germans and other factors. I propose a housing layout suitable for young couples with children, which the town needs. I am trying to fill in some of the missing structure of the square and maintain a similar height of the roof ridge and cornice, as well as the mass and rhythm of the windows of the surrounding houses. At the same time, however, I open the house to views of the valley with large French windows. In the urban concept, I add three houses to the street line of the square. There are three houses, each with six apartments. The residents share the south-facing garden.
