MĚDĚNEC: CANCER (mountain teraphy in Cancer constellation)

The mountain residence named CANCER is located at the top of Mědník. It offers a beautiful view and is home to a baroque chapel. The name is meant to represent the Cancer constellation, as the main points of the building are positioned where the stars of this constellation lie. The chalet is black and closely connected to the darkness, symbolizing light in the form of stars, as light cannot exist without darkness. Another reason for the name relates to therapy in darkness. Cancer is a disease, and here, people can undergo treatment. The therapy takes place in underground shafts beneath the cabin. In the early 20th century, there were three mountain cabins on this site. Unfortunately, all three were destroyed by fire. Today, there is a water reservoir on the site of the former cabins.
