bug hotel for drn palace

Bc. Prokop Tesař

Annotation

The DRN Palace is a multifunctional building designed by architect Stanislav Fiala. He was trying to bring greenery to Národní třída using the green terraces on the outer facade and the roof garden. During the implementation, the architect used old building materials and other waste and incorporated it into the interior of the building. The dynamic shape of the beehive itself tries to communicate with the undulating facade of the palace. Its rudeness and crevices on the surface offer a suitable refuge for insects and work as a bug hotel. Space inside would provide space for wild bees. The hive is built of used fired bricks. I tried to work here with the idea of recycling building materials in the same way as architect Stanislav Fiala when creating DRN.
