Sol LeWitt Studio

Complex od three buildings- atelier, gallery and apartment is situated in Central Park, New York. The area is worth being located at such an iconic place, as Soll LeWitt, the artist for which the complex is primarily designed for, is an icon of modern art. The atelier is made out of a rib structure, which follows the same principles the artist used in his own work. Shape of the ribs is based on elementary geometrical shapes, which are further multiplied and varied. Each variant, each rib is unique. The heart of the second component- gallery, is hidden underground. The main exhibition area which is lit from above from a light well lays under the atrium. LeWitts apartment is also designed underground, daylight is provided by light wells. At night, light wells light up statues placed above.
