Beer garden Žižkov

The terrain of Tachovské naměstí was probably the most important source of inspiration for the design of the beer garden building. It has a rather complex shape, that even at first glance evokes a strong impression of contrast with the architecture of the surrounding historical environment. It could be said that the almost critical absence of straight lines and rectangular forms in the preserved natural part of the square's plot allegedly confronts the regular "curtain" of the longstanding apartment buildings, which it surrounds on three sides. The design of the beer garden supports atypical for European cities relation. It emphasizes the play of two key visual aspects of the space through the minimalism of its appearance and its size, structurally connects the cycle path and the terrain.
