Suicide Chapel

The Suicide Chapel is located on the edge of the Šestákova skála in the Divoká Šárka nature reserve. The chapel was built here in memory of the people who decided to end their lives in the surrounding rocks. The cracked inner sides of the glass walls express the fragility of human life and the psychological damage that the victims have suffered during their lifetime. The cracks, like the human soul, are not visible from the outside of the chapel. They are covered with semi-permeable glass with a mirror effect reflecting the surrounding nature. The only spiritual symbol of the chapel are the candles that were placed by the bereaved and the visitors who were here to remember and honor the memory of the dead.
