STROMOVKA GALLERY

Michaela Tóthová

Annotation

The concept of the gallery reacts to the artworks of a prominent neoplasticism artist, Piet Mondrian. His rhythmic yet balanced compositions were the inspiration for the outreaching facade of the building, which affects the organization of its interior. It is open and arranged in four levels, which guarantee visitors different points of view of the exhibited art in the gallery. The lighting is secured with skylights and french windows, which provide views over lakes in Stromovka. The gallery premises are set in an area surrounded by trees, which were Mondrian's inspiration in his earlier work. The gallery and its environment therefore indirectly point to the path Piet Mondrian took during his work as an artist.
