Columbiforma

Amálie Zemanová

Annotation

Urban dovecote is placed on the Kyjsky pond in Prague. It is a fifteen metres tall building, which appears to be even taller thanks to its reflection on water. It is designed to be constructed from wood. Larch boards used on the facades will become grey with time, so they would resemble the colour of pigeons´ feathers. The person who is taking care of pigeons reaches the dovecote on a rowing boat. On the south façade, there are PV panels. The holes for pigeons to fly into are placed on the north façade in the shape of the Columba constellation. The urban dovecote serve primarily to pigeons, however, people can benefit from the electricity from the PV panels, watch the dovecote while walking around the pond or even go for a swim and take a closer look.
