House for professional handyman

Matouš Balík

Annotation

A handyman likes to experiment. He invents unconventional solutions. He stands out from the crowd. He does it his way. Yet he still respects the materials and the craft. Exactly like his house. A house with character. It sits on the western slope and follows its shape. It consists of of three interlocking masses, each with its own specific function. The first serves as workshop, the second as a day zone and the third, the highest, as a night zone. A corridor runs through all the levels, allowing views into all parts of the house. The house is designed as a timber building made of CLT panels on concrete foundations. A characteristic element is the wooden coffered ceiling with overhang to the exterior.
