Memory Of Nations Gymnasium

Annotation

A restless place for a quiet activity. Žitná Street is one of the busiest streets in Prague, so in my design I only use it for the main entrance. The facade of the main classrooms is shaded by pedestrian arcades, which serve not only as a barrier to the sun in the summer, but also as a pleasant space for spending breaks. Each of the groups using this school has its own wing. My effort was to create different variants of spaces enabling a wide range of interactions. From the intimate corners of individual wings to the large two-story space in the middle. The tea room is a bright central feature and it also serves as an entrance hall. There is a wooden terrace in the garden. A smaller courtyard on the north side creates a safe space, allowing students to hide from the noise of the street.
