SNOWPIERCER

Denis Tomynec

Annotation

A building or a floating train? The "Snowpiercer" pavilion is an architectonised adaptation of the same titled post-apocalyptic film by director Joon-Ho Pong. The film, like the pavilion, is specific in its linear movement and changing spaces. The spectator moves through the pavilion like a passenger on an express train, only being allowed to move forward and backward. The exhibition spaces take on radically different atmospheres with each step of the viewer. They are meant to evoke in the visitor the impression of being in a completely different world. The whole form is based on the combination of the main motif of the film (the train) and the movement in the Guggenheim Museum.
