doc. Ing. arch. Irena Fialová

Member of the Czech Chamber of Architects, co-founder of the Zlatý řez magazine and publishing house, author or co-author of a number of publications. She lectures on the theory and trends of architecture and urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture CTU. She was a long-time expert of the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture and a member of its 2009 Mies van der Rohe Award jury. She is dedicated to researching current models of urbanization and the relationship between transport and the quality of public space, using examples of the transformation of European metropolises into sustainable cities of the 21st century.

After graduating in 1985, she worked at the Office of the Head Architect of Prague under the leadership of Jiří Hrůza, in the 1990s she collaborated with D.A. Studio of Martin Rajniš, managed several international projects for Leopold Bareš's company Sipral and became a teacher and member of the Scientific and Artistic Council of the newly founded Faculty of Architecture in Liberec under Dean Jiří Suchomel. From 2006 to the present, she has been a teacher at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University, where she was appointed Associate Professor and since 2014 she has held the position of Vice Dean. She is the guarant and lecturer of the subjects Urbanism III-Theory/Teorie and Urbanism VI-Tendence, she is a tutor in the Architecture and Urbanism doctoral study program and in the new interdisciplinary program Smart Cities. In the years 1992-96, she worked as a member of the Scientific Committee of the XIX. UIA Congress in Barcelona and ​​in the years 1996-2013 as an independent expert of the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture - Mies van der Rohe Award and the curator of its Prague exhibitions. Since 2018 she is the curator of the November Talks Prague lecture series and the Prague exhibition of the Young Talent Architecture Award international competition.
