Urban Housing Na Knížecí

Sýkorský Martin

Architecture and Urbanism, Bachelor Project

Annotation

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the search for an answer for the question, what should city housing close to the centre of Prague look like? The design is a part of multiple newly designed row buildings filling in the street front at the corner of streets Ostrovského and Stroupežnického. The project proposes flats for families, young pairs, singles and also community living for seniors, which wish to live in a busy and living household again. The ground floor opens into both street and courtyard and offers comercial spaces. The form of the house looks back at traditional city housing from the end of 19th century and tries to learn from it and find out which values should modern house still respect and which to innovate on.
