PARK ČERNOVICE SAND QUARRY IN BRNO

Subject of this diploma thesis is the post-mining development strategy for a large sand quarry in Černovice, Brno. The Brno Dunes project represents a possible scenario for the transformation of mining landscape into a city park or its return to pre-mining state. Most distinctive element of focused area are sandy walls, which were created as a direct result of anthropogenic activity. The proposal entails ongoing mining operation while preserving natural values, especially the nesting areas of rare bird species.
