Senovážné náměstí in Budweis

Bc. Barbora Havelková

Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation

The goal of this project was to improve the area of Senovážné square in Budweis, which currently serves mainly as a parking lot. The square lies in a location previously occupied by a section of city's fortifications, which were later replaced by park areas. Due to unprofessional changes over the years, the place's arrangement is chaotic and it has lost its former significance and function. This project tries to restore the original values – to give the place back to people and to anchor it as a static spot, where people will want to spend their time. The newly proposed development purposefully supports this intention. It consists of interactive educational area and rentable spaces for shops, studios and the like, while its form is in agreement with the contemporary urbanistic values and relations.
