Keplerova Elementary School, Prague 6

Annotation

If we read Pohořelec Square like musical notes, we can notice that there is an error in its rhythm. It's as if we were waiting for the glorious climax of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, but instead, we only hear the final applause and ovation. The empty space here arises from careless acts and interventions. The reestablishment of the rhythm of the Pohořelec milieu is, therefore, an important, albeit precise, step. The fundamental procedure is the design of an elementary school that will also complement the pair of Jan Kepler Gymnasium buildings. The ordinary school is designed in three sections, which reflect the complex context of the development. The resulting corners are used not only by the children attending the school but also by passers-by.
