Annotation

The shed for an AU-30 airship is located by the Ny-Ålesund village on Spitsbergen archipelago. This place has an interesting history of airship usage and now it is an opportunity for returning this form of transport to the research center beyond the arctic circle. The design is based on connecting three identical space mesh decks together, which would allow to use one constructing system for both floor and roof parts of the shed. That should decrease fabrication and transportation difficulties. The facade is cladded with trapezoidal metal sheets and one row is substituted with laminate panels to allow light to come inside the structure. The gate is designed as an isogrid slabs made by fiberglass struts and panels. The opening mechanism is driven by two hydraulic pistons and two swingbars.
