Art Centre, Kutná Hora

The national heritage area of Kutná Hora. A not very large gap looking towards the late gothic fountain. A new place for artistic events in the town. It is not a classical gallery. The building tries to be as versatile and multifunctional as possible. That is the reason why there are spaces for education, commerce and gatherings. The concept of two masses reflects the atypical shape of the plot and the complex relationship to the surrounding buildings. The heart of the building is a vertical staircase that divides the building, both spatially and materially. The light stone is a certain parallel to the nearby stone fountain. The large glass surfaces illuminating the central staircase then lighten the whole mass and enhance the concept of mingling.
