Buffalo Bistro

Marianna Páleníková

Annotation

An interior for a complex of three spaces - a bistro, a café, and a cultural venue - was designed inside the former Cultural center in Lovosice. The inspiration for the bistro was an icon of Czech design of the 70's - an inflatable toy buffalo by Libuše Niklová. The buffalo is placed on the bar and its color scheme is applied to all the interiors. The cafe was inspired by 70's rainbow-shaped graphics, which were transformed into 3d screens. The material used was inspired by the original mosaic tiling of the exterior, while the plastic furniture in the bistro continues the theme of inflatable toys. Square ceiling panels are used in the café and the cultural space and continue into the wall cladding through an arched detail. These two spaces are separated by rotating arch-shaped panels.
