Housing for Students - Made of Shipping Containers

The goal was to design a houseboat for students to create affordable homes in the city of Prague. The project area is the „Podolský přístav“ - small sport boat harbor with various rowing clubs. Due to the smaller size of the harbor, the houseboats developed should be similar in size to fit into the overall appearance. The different apartment sizes (Micro, Solo, Duo) are given by three different container sizes. Various combinations are possible resulting in different dimensions. Additionally, a community-boat offers space for relaxing, meeting, working. The idea of the design is to integrate the new emerging student community into the already existing port structure and thus promote interaction among themselves.
