Prokůpek house

Prokůpek house in Kouřim was built in 1930 as a community house for Czech agriculture political party. Today it’s empty. Goal of this project was to pinpoint potential of this house. To find a new purpose and modify it for the needs of the modern age. Part of the building along the street is designed as a pub which has access to the garden. In the second storey was designed as elementary art school with, art, musical and dancing departments. The biggest changes happened in the cultural hall. From the original hall there was left only the reinforced concrete skeleton which the whole design accentuates. In the interior the skeleton is exposed. From the exterior the structure was wrapped in light translucent panels from polycarbonate through which the skeleton can still be seen.
