APARTMENS + APARTMENS + LIBRARY

We are designing a new neighborhood in the city center of Pilsen on the site of the demolished Inwest cultural center. My site is located between American and newly designed streets. The proposal includes two residential buildings and a library. My task was to make the facades give the impression of a city palace. The facades are built on the principles of symmetry and rhythm. Each facade is decorated with cornices that mark the horizontal axes of the windows. There is a library between the apartment buildings on the first and second floors above ground. The entrance to the library is from the American street side. The library consists of one large hall that spans 2 floors. Access to natural daylight inside is ensured by three atriums.
