Searching for the city

Bc. Roman Totušek

Annotation

Is Ralsko what most people think of as a town? With an area of 17100 hectares it has 2114 inhabitants. That's 8 inhabitants per hectare. In fact, the town of Ralsko includes nine remaining settlements that have withstood historical events and since 1992 have formed one administrative unit with an imaginary centre in the part of Kuřívody. However, the centre in this case means the municipal authority, not the town centre as it is generally understood. The city as built structure, the city as relations, the city as life, the city as dialogue, space, agency. A square, a kind of living room without a roof. The urban concept returns the urban centre to Kuřívody, Ralsko. A place for the inhabitants, for their gathering. Places where they can gather, live.
