Annotation

A long silver footbridge - seemingly utilitarian but also respectful to its surroundings, durable, and bold. The new steel construction with a wooden deck replaces an existing passing made out of three tree trunks. The seemingly aesthetical appearance of the footbridge is in fact a load-bearing element itself – a Vierendeel truss composed of 12 separate elements screwed together to span over a 12-metre-wide channel of the Klínový stream. Its orientation is respectful to the existing pathways meaning that the footbridge overcomes the stream at an acute angle. The raw character of the steel bridge is surprising in a location where the nearest roads are located miles away. It is a construction strong and daring but also subtle and fragile.
