Bondy's villa in Havlíčkova Street

Annotation

Bondy's villa in Havlíčková was built in 1901 by the partners of the Glass & Bondy company, Jewish businessmen Leopold Glass and Henrich Bondy. The two-storey villa, sometimes referred to as Art Nouveau despite its 1901 origins, is built in a rather inconsistently adhered-to Neo-Renaissance style.A separate architectural design deals with the communication of the new and the old. The Neo-Renaissance villa was taken as the focus of attention throughout the design process. The massing of the new buildings is therefore very subtle, clear and its role is to visually allude to Bondy's villa. The existing side entrance to the building has been assisted by a guide staircase which forms a large part of the courtyard on the site.
