Urban Blok Horanová Street Náchod

Annotation

Horanova Street is located in the historic centre of Nachod. Previously the street was called Jew Street. There were 23 houses and a synagogue which was built in 1777. About 290 Jews lived in Nachod before the war, most of them left by transport on December 14, 1942. 249 people from Náchod and its surroundings were executed or tortured, 18 returned. After the war, in the 1960s, the entire street together with the synagogue was demolished and panel buildings were built in its place. My project envisages the restoration of the street. I have designed a set of low-rise apartment buildings on the site. At the end of the street, on the site of the synagogue, I have designed a Jewish museum, which also includes the function of a community centre.
