NMNM 5x15

In Nové Město nad Metují, opposite Klosova Street, there used to be a gap. Today it is filled by an apartment building of size 5x15x12,5 m... Seemingly narrow and long, but it's precisely this unusual plot that gives the house its unique character. The study builds on the gap, departing from its linearity to create communications and the interior. In certain places this line is broken by raising the floor, offering the user an "island of rest", a certain "breaking out of the line". The elements of the façade are based on the character of the surrounding buildings - hence the slender columns and projecting cornices, hence the white concrete. The shutters are also hidden in this construction. The key was to design a decent dwelling despite the seemingly unfavourable dimensions of the site.
