A PLACE FOR ALL THE SENSES: THE SENSE OF SMELL AND HEARING

Natálie Křivancová

Annotation

A place for all the senses is located in the forests of the lusatian mountains and grows on the foundations of a former holiday resort, which nature is gradually absorbing back into itself. Objects for all the senses thus do not represent a restoration and reconstruction of the original buildings, but rather act as sponges that grow through the existing structures. The objects dedicated to all five senses are distributed along a hyperbola that approaches infinity, symbolizing the infinity of perception. Although perception can be infinite throughout life, every life will come to an end, and with it, so will sensory perception. The realization of the finitude of life is represented by the only completely new idol that does not stand on the foundation of existing objects - the chapel.
