King‘s mill : Tourist and workshop shelter

Justine Bordage

Annotation

Designing a project on the King‘s mill site, means taking into account its history, the existing 6 ruins, its topography, its environment, and its changing moods over the seasons, from snow-covered landscapes to the summer land art festival. The project proposes to enhance them, reinforcing the historical testimony of the buildings while creating new spaces, programs and connections between the currently distinct zones. The focus is on the building known as Brenner Albin, where a bigger intervention is proposed with an added and independent structure from the ruin to welcome an accommodation program for the hikers, and storage and workshop spaces for the festival. The appropriation can change depending on the seasons, and the project is designed to be discreet inside the ruin.
