Communal housing "BEHIND THE PILLAR"

The concept of the project is inspired by the way of life, the concept of homelessness and the shelters used by the homeless. When the tram passed through Jaromírová street, people looking out the window at the bridge column could not recognize the building, even though some elements of the building extend beyond the edges of the column. Through this point there is an analogy with homeless people who have many shelters right in front of people's noses that only they know about. According to the plan, visitors and guests should access the building through an opening in the column that grows into the column elements of the building. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by a large open space that is lit from above by a skylight which is giving an illusion of ceiling from the concrete bridge.
