House for Erna Masarovičová

Julia Boháľová

Annotation

This semi-detached house is designed for two prominent Czechoslovakian sculptors. Our designs reflect their work and are therefore complementary. The house on the left is designed for a Slovak sculptor Erna Masarovičová. She is known as the first lady of Slovakian statues and nicknamed Monumental Erna. She and her husband built their own house, so that it is adapted to her work with large materials and that was a great inspiration for me. I designed a house for Erna that was large, but light, like her work, so I chose plan libre and tried to achieve the unbending of the interior spaces and the randomness, but at the same time, a certain order given by the columns.
