Renaissance and Humanism in Prague: Structures and Relationships

The aim of the project is to develop my previous research, dealing with the origins of Renaissance in Czech lands. One of the conclusions of this research was the exploration of the political context of the use of Renaissance forms first in the architecture of the royal court and of foremost aristocratic houses and, later, it means after the stabilizing of relationshipd between towns and royal crown, in towns as well. In my new project I would like to research the literary context both of the subsequentdiffusion of Renaissance forms in the towns of Prague and of changes in building technology and typology in the time when the political connotations of the new architectural language presumably were not as strong as earlier. It means mainly the time since the 1540s to the battle at the White Mountain (1620). This topic was not sufficiently scrutinized in modern scholarship.
The project focuses on the complex relationship between humanism and Renaissance in Prague. Its result should be a scientific monograph-
