Shared space. Studies of counter - terrorist measures.

My research is devoted to the Shared space issue, which brings together the transport and socio-cultural functions of the public space. The challenge to continue with my research was based on the recent repetitive terrorist attacks where vehicles run over people. It is clear, that these new experiences have a significant impact on the theory and application of Shared spaces so as the results of my multi-year research. In order to include knowledge of current trends in the design of shared areas, which meet the requirements for protection against terrorist attacks, I request financial support, because I cannot carry out the next part of my research without it. This financial support will be used for covering the cost of travel to London, where I will be able to examine current trends of the solution of the problem. In Czech environment, security and counter-terrorism measures became the issue for examination only recently. For example, the plug-in of the IPR Prague Public spaces manual, which deals with the subject of security for the first time, is currently being prepared by ing. arch. Jan Kadlas. Obviously, there is a necessity to study this new problem abroad. Great Britain is at the forefront of promoting shared spaces and implementing measures to protect against terrorist attacks. London has the oldest noteworthy samples of shared space. Now, after several terrorist attacks in public areas and a serious traffic accident in a shared space, the question of protection areas with high concentration of people and a low level of security from a violent terrorism attack with vehicles is now actively being solved. Based on contacts with the Mayor's Office of the City of London and the interview with officials responsible for counter - terrorism in the city, my goal is to explore possible security and counter-terrorism measures in shared areas and to assess the impact of such measures on their organization and operation. Another objective is to map the differences bet
