Impact of long-term environmental conditions on the hydrophobic properties of the surface layers

A lot of buildings reduce their protection due to negative environmental conditions impacted directly to the surface layers, which can lead to its deterioration of structures. The aim of this project is analysed hydrophobic properties of plaster and surface layer of concrete after expose long term simulation of external conditions. Probably the most important factors affecting the material degradation represent sun (heat, UV radiation...), air (carbon dioxide) and water (rain, snowfalls, ice and the associated problems with salts), which penetrates into the structure materials. Therefore the work is focus at determined hydrophobic parameters and their changes. Important part of project is evaluation of the results before and after exposure to natural conditions. The main practical impact of the project will be in exactly knowing life service of the surface layers and possibility of prolong time between its repairs.
