FA Academic Competition 2024

The Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of CTU announces the 1st round of the Academic Competition for Support of Creative and Publication Activities for 2024.

Support is awarded in the following categories:

a) Professional Publications -This support is intended mainly for books, peer-reviewed or impacted articles, texts in international proceedings that meet the standard requirements for professional publication in the given field (new knowledge, ISBN or ISSN, review opinions, notes, index, English summary, etc.). The financial support is used to pay for partial external works connected with the completion of professional texts by authors from the FA or created and published on the grounds of the FA. In the case of a book, in particular to cover the costs of language proofreading, review opinions, graphics, printing, illustrations and licenses; for professional articles to cover the costs of open access or illustrations. The support can cover the wages of internal employees and scholarships for FA students in the total amount of a maximum of 10% of the total subsidy. This support is not intended for travel expenses related to the conference and the conference fee! This is what the Mobility fund is for. Support range 5 – 150 thousand CZK

b) translation - The support is intended for translations and proofreading of foreign-language professional texts (e.g., books, chapters in a book, contributions in proceedings, articles in a peer-reviewed or impacted journal). The support cannot cover salaries of internal employees or scholarships for FA students. Collaboration with native-speaker translators is preferred.

c ) presentation of the results of teaching, research and creative activities - The support is intended mainly for the presentation of the results of FA activities, e.g., in the form of an exhibition, an invited lecture, a monothematic issue of a journal or a book without standard scientific parameters. The financial support is to used to finance the above-mentioned activities, to pay for partial external work connected with the organization and completion of these activities and with the presentation of outputs to professionals and the public at large; e.g. for organizational arrangements, fees for lecturers or consultants or commissions, language proofreading, illustrations and licenses, material, graphic work, printing, material transport, exhibition insurance, etc. The support can cover salaries of internal employees and scholarships for FA students in total a maximum of 10% of the total FA subsidy. Refreshments and standard semester teaching and related performances cannot be paid for from the support.

d) creative activity - The support is intended mainly for the organization of workshops, competitions, conferences, design-build projects, i.e., creative activities that will enrich the interdisciplinary profile, dialogue, and environment of the Faculty of Architecture.  The financial support is to be used to finance the above-mentioned activities, to pay for partial external work, e.g. for organizational support, fees for lecturers or consultants or commissions, language proofreading, illustrations and licenses, material, graphic work, printing, material transport, insurance, etc. Salaries and stipends can be paid in a total of a maximum of 10% of the overall FA subsidy. Food expenses and standard semester teaching, related performances or work of an individual cannot be paid for from the support.

Deadlines:

• 1st round of applications until 26 January 2024
• 2nd round of applications until 14 June 2024

The awarding of support is decided by the Editorial Board of the FA CTU consisting of: D. Hlaváček, P. Vorlík, J. Calta, P. Kratochvíl, K. Pučerová, J. J. Tesař, I. Šestáková, J. Vorel, H. Nezpěváková

The outputs of supported projects must be registered in the RUV or in the V3S (RIV).
