4. Basic school Všenory
SS 2024
Assignment
Tne new building of eightclass basic school in Všenory
Garden Restaurant or Garden Restaurant with Lookout Tower, both in Prague
SS 2024
Assignment
The aim of both assignments is to complement the amenities of the Botanical Garden or Malešický Park, with the difference that in the Botanical Garden it is an extension of the refreshment area to the existing lookout tower - a sculpture by sculptor Čestmír Suška and in Malešický Park it is a proposal for a lookout tower and a garden restaurant.
The two assignments also differ in the completely different environment of the site. In the Botanical Garden, it is a quiet, isolated landscape environment on the edge of a forest with beautiful views of Prague. In Malešický Park, it is a deliberately highly urbanised environment of an intensively used, postmodernly shaped urban park.
In the Botanical Garden, the sensitive incorporation of a building situated in the immediate vicinity of a significant work of art into a charming landscape setting will be important, and in a location with distinctive topography, on the upper edge of the slopes of Troja.
In the Malešický Park, it is the completion of the implementation of a significantly shaped overall concept and composition of the park, by creating a dominant tower situated logically at the highest point of the site. The garden restaurant and the observation tower will be a magnet attracting visitors to the park, increasing its attractiveness even outside normal daily traffic or in case of unsuitable climatic conditions, and at the same time a dominant feature of the north-south access axis. Part of the assignment is also a solution for the location of facilities for the maintenance of the park.
Kindergarten and House for the Elderly – Přípotoční Street, Prague 10 Vršovice
SS 2024
Assignment
There are two plots of land adjacent to the Botič River with a significant amount of parkland. On one of them we will propose a kindergarten for 4 wards with facilities and a cooking room and on the other a House for the elderly of a size according to the capacity of the plot and the set limits of the concept of volume design, probably rather smaller scale. Both buildings will be complemented by exterior living areas, the link to mature trees and the parkland character of the area should be among the key attributes of the design. Students working on the brief as part of AT OS or an optional studio may work in pairs to address the overall concept of the development of the site, and then each of the pairs will complete one of the briefs.
The assignment can also be approached in terms of the current trends of integrating senior housing into the mainstream urban environment and the solution of pre-school facilities in small units and groups, for example in ground floor spaces of apartment buildings connected to adjacent gardens. Both with the aim of creating a humanly pleasant, "interpersonal" and intergenerationally shared small-scale environment, without separating seniors or children into large specialized, institutionally operating and therefore impersonal facilities.
