Anotace
Global changes and processes associated with the transition to the postindustrialism interconnected with the downturn of heavy industry and a fast grow of the service sector have influenced the life and structure of towns and cities. The majority of cities was changed during industrialization and now has to deal with vast brownfields with many characteristic problems such as?. The issues associated with the adaptive reuse and the regeneration of industrial cities have emerged as an established discipline. The question remains: Is contemporaneous regeneration sustainable? It is important to understand the potential of the industrial areas as initial areas for solving and mitigating environmental and social problems which have occurred in the past. We find it necessary to set sustainable principles of adaptive reuse, which will lead to the reintegration of industrial sites into local socio-economic and urban structures. Concurrently it
can help to achieve the sustainability of chosen functions, to spur regeneration and to increase the habitability. Industrial sites seen through the rubric of ecosystems allow one to perceive them as complex and dynamic systems formed by a pattern of diverse interacting subsystems with characteristic metabolic cycles. Since the majority of industrial complexes have worked according to a model of rational metabolic cycles representing technological flow, we find an ecosystem approach to be a useful and relevant model for understanding the complexity of the issue and for finding sustainable ways for the adaptation of industrial sites.

Global changes and processes associated with the transition to post-industrialism that are interconnected with the downturn of heavy industry and the rapid growth of the service sector have greatly influenced everyday life and the structure of towns and cities. The majority of cities changed through industrialisation must now deal with vast brownfields and the associated problems. Consequently, issues connected with the adaptive reuse and regeneration of industrial cities have thus emerged as an established discipline, although whether contemporary regeneration is sustainable remains an open question. Since it is thus important to understand the potential of former industrial areas for resolving and mitigating environmental and social problems which have occurred in the past, it is necessary to identity sustainability principles for adaptive reuse that will lead to the reintegration of former industrial sites into the local socio-economic and urban structure. This will also assist us in attaining sustainability in respect to new functions for former industrial sites, spur regeneration, and increase habitability. Viewing such sites in terms of ecosystems makes it possible to perceive them as complex and dynamic systems formed by a pattern of diverse interacting subsystems with characteristic metabolic cycles. Because the majority of industrial complexes have operated according to a model of rational metabolic cycles representing technological flows, the ecosystem approach is both relevant and useful for understanding the complexity of the issue and identifying sustainable ways in which to readapt discarded industrial sites.

V soutěži Solar Decathlon 2013 se utkalo 19 týmů z různých částí světa. V solárním městečku bylo k vidění 19 názorů na solární udržitelnou architekturu a 19 možných řešení a reakcí, jak nejlépe uspět v 10-ti soutěžních disciplínách. Solar Decathlon není jen přehlídkou dvouleté práce týmů zhmotněné do jejich domů. Jeho cílem je rozproudit debatu o trvale udržitelném vývoji a využití solární energie, jak na akademické půdě, tak mezi širokou veřejností a především inspirovat k mezioborové spolupráci. Jak si jednotlivé týmy se zadáním poradily a jak jejich domy vypadaly?

Anotace
As many studies refer in 2050 there will be still 87% of existing buildings, one of the effective ways how to make our cities sustainable is to focus on the issue of sustainable refurbishment. This paper focuses on the scale of urban block which pattern is so characteristic for the cities in middle Europe.
In nature ecosystems are characterized by complex chains of metabolic cycles, feedback loops and circular metabolism. Ecosystems are open and dynamic complex systems. That`s why an ecosystem model is assessed as appropriate for an issue of refurbishment. When the social, economic and ecological aspects are included in the design than such refurbishment can be called sustainable.
Turning urban block into ecosystem is a complex approach trying to find the way how to regenerate existing urban block to habitable vivid climate benefit area. This goal can be achieved by supporting social interactions, local economics, offering quality standard of living in the city and also by improving the local climate and reducing air pollution. The later is possible to reach for example by using vegetation and climate benefit materials in building itself and in surrounding urban area. This paper focuses not only on refurbishment of urban blocks from 17th and 18th century but also on blocks and urban areas built during the socialism era - inspired by ideas of modernism. Refurbishment focused on socialistic blocks and urban areas is supposed to be the most problematic and discussed issue in Czech Republic.

Příspěvek k SGS konferenci se ve své první části věnuje představení prestižní mezinárodní soutěže Solar Decathlon, kterou pořádá Ministerstvo energetiky Spojených států. V soutěži probíhající jednou za dva roky v hlavním městě USA Washingtonu D. C. se v každém ročníku utká 20 vybraných univerzitních týmů. Cílem je navrhnout, postavit a provozovat solární dům. ČVUT může být prvním týmem z České republiky, který se zúčastní soutěže Solar Decathlon. Ve druhé části je prezentován koncept domu "AIR HOUSE", který představuje novou koncepci obytného prostředí a současně odkazuje na tradiční hodnoty místní architektury. Jeho princip vystihují dvě slova: BOX - MEMBRÁNA. BOX v duchu tradice minimálního bytu české architektonické avantgardy 20. let, prefabrikovaný a mobilní. MEMBRÁNA jako nosná konstrukce, high-tech, inteligentní architektonická kůže.

Anotace
Přednáškový cyklus EKOLOGIE versus ARCHITEKTURA, který reflektuje předkládaná publikace, pokračuje v dobré tradici přednáškových cyklů na Fakultě architektury ČVUT. Jeho smyslem bylo představit různé přístupy k problematice udržitelného stavění a podnítit debatu, která se na Fakultě architektury ČVUT v průběhu posledních let velmi pozvolna rozvíjí. A protože jak říká jeden z přednášejících Thomas Herzog "tento způsob navrhování není otázkou stylu. Musí být založen na znalostech!" , přizvali jsme k účasti na tomto cyklu osm architektů a inženýrů z různých evropských zemí, pro které je toto téma srdeční záležitostí. Naše pozvání přijali Haiko Meijer (Onix), Bill Dunster (ZEDfactory), Douglas Mulhall (Erasmus University Rotterdam), Stefanie Reuss (Transsolar), Günter Löhnert (solidar), Césare Peeren (2012Architecten), Per Monsen (Gasa) a Thomas Herzog (Herzog und Partner).
