DESIGN OF A CEMETERY IN ČESKÉ BUDĚJOVICE

The this thesis aims is to design a place for the last farewell and burial of loved ones to the needs of contemporary society. These can be seen in how historical cemeteries are dealing with and expanding these demands. The proposed park cemetery has a variety of burial and ritual sites. It is intended to serve in part as a public park, garden, or lapidarium, and to serve the dead and the living equally well. And it is the fulfilment of such an essence that is one of the fundamental priorities of this work. The second essential point is the representation of the place, which is not meant to shock with its monumentality but, on the contrary, to be natural and decent. Just as the dead return to the earth and only a small memory remains.
