The aim of the thesis is to explore mycelium-based materials and subsequently to find a suitable use of mycelium composite in interior design. The resulting designs are overhead ceiling panels and acoustic paintings for office spaces. Mycelium composite is a new type of material with good thermal insulation, acoustic absorption and fire-resistant properties. The proposed product seeks to make the most of these features and provides an eco-friendly alternative to acoustic panels. Participation in a competition helped me to further specify my design, while allowing me to make use of a crucial advantage of mycocomposites, which is the ability to upcycle waste material from a local source.
