DOG SHELTER

Architecture and Urbanism, MA diploma project

Annotation

My task is to design a shelter for animals in need with a veterinary office. Part of the diploma thesis is an analysis of the area and a building program compiled on the basis of the mentioned reference buildings from the Czech Republic and abroad. There is a triangular plot enclosed by a railway line in Prague (Mezitratí). I design a dog shelter with a veterinary surgery, dog school with a training hall, training ground, dog hotel, salon and community room. Single-story buildings and their necessary facilities, intentionally combined into one unit as small as possible, do not significantly change the town's panorama, the landscape, are friendly to nature, but still provide sufficient comfort. A significant dominant feature of the area is the training hall, the shell of which is made of aluminum cladding and U-shaped profile glass. In my thesis, I would like to present one of the ways of using the residual space in the city. I form a meaningful environment with character. I deliberately stop only a small part of the territory and thus create a generous open space. The place could become a popular location not only for dog walkers.
